COUROMODA 2012 – São Paulo
Edition of 2011 hosted 89,000 professional visits and showed the fall-winter fashion of more than 1,000 industries of footwear and accessories.
The 38th edition of COUROMODA, held in São Paulo from January 17 to 20, hosted more than 89,000 professional visits in four days, the best result ever achieved (forecast was 70,000 visits). These visitors came from all over Brazil and from other 64 countries.

“This was the biggest edition Couromoda ever held – says J. Francisco Dos Santos, president of the fair – showing that the shoe market continues warmed up and with high growth perspectives. The shoes’ sales increased 13% in the domestic market in 2011, forecasting a two digits growth for 2012”. COUROMODA 2012 - International Shoe, Sporting Goods and Leather Goods Fair brought together over 1,000 exhibiting companies that occupied 51,000 m2 of exhibition area at the Anhembi Pavilion in São Paulo, showcasing the fall-winter collections of some 2,000 brands.
Representing 13 Brazilian states, the companies that participate in the fair represent 90% of the Brazilian production, which now exceeds 850 million pairs annually.
COUROMODA also gathered together entrepreneurs of the entire leather-footwear chain in Brazil. A sector ranging from tanneries to retail stores – with a current yearly GDP of more than R$ 50 billion (US$ 30 billion) that generates more than 1 million direct and indirect jobs.
As for foreign trade, sales of the leather-footwear chain reach around US$ 4.3 billion with over US$ 3 billion surplus. Traditionally, it is with COUROMODA that begins the new working year for the footwear industry. The business deals that are closed and/or started during the event account for 30% of annual sales of the sector. The 38th edition of the fair was held at a time of heated up and well structured domestic market, with positive growth indexes in the footwear retail market.
